British-assisted Challenger 2 Main Battle Tank (MBT) has been seen for the first time near the front lines of the battlefield in Ukraine.
A video circulating in cyberspace, showing a Challenger 2 tank passing on a dusty country road.
As is known, the British Government has approved the delivery of 14 complete Challenger 2 tanks along with ammunition and spare parts which were announced in January 2023.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine officially received the first batch of Challenger 2 tanks at the end of March 2023.
Challenger 2 itself is known as the best and safest MBT in the world, combining second generation Chobham armor with significantly increased protection against KE (Kinetic Energy) and anti-tank missile attacks.
To operate it, the Challenger 2 is manned by four personnel including the driver, commander, weapons operator and ammunition loader.
As the main weapon, this tank carries a 120 mm L30 cannon capable of firing APFSDS (Armor-Piercing Fin-Stabilized Discarding Sabot) and HESH (High-Explosive Squash Head).
The effective range of the gun is up to 3,000 m. In its combat mission, Challenger 2 carries 50 rounds of ammunition.
This 64-ton tank is powered by a Perkins CV-12 TCA Condor diesel engine that produces 1,200 hp.
The tank can travel at a maximum speed of 56 km/h on flat roads with a maximum cruising range of 450 km.
To prevent Ukrainian counterattacks, Russian troops have installed 'dragon teeth' on the front line.
While Ukrainian forces call it the 'Wagner Line' because PMC Wagner installed it, it stretches for tens of kilometers.
The dragon's teeth were large pyramidal concrete blocks placed along the forefront and intended to prevent the passage of heavy armored vehicles.
In addition, Russian troops have also created minefields to disable enemy combat vehicles.
